I'm in the bridging programme for the MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Technology at TU Delft, after a BSc in Artificial Intelligence at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. From May to October 2026 I'm an AI intern at BIDN (Bureau Informatie Diensten Nederland).
I'm interested in the intersection of machine learning and society, and I like building things that work.

Racing the Clock: Training a Transformer from Scratch for Extractive Summarization

How far can a transformer get without pre-training? I trained an 85M-parameter model from scratch in 12 hours on a single GPU to pick summary sentences from news articles. It reaches ROUGE-1 39.87 on CNN/DailyMail, close to the Lead-3 baseline.
